Shave Your Ham for Cancer

Donativo protegido
Cancer is a horrible disease, that not only affects the individual but all the family and friends and everyone that expresses love for that person. I only just experienced that worry and effect for the first time for a close friend, but she showed courage, strength and continued to smile throughout treatment. Mollie was diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer but is fortunate enough to finish her last round of chemo last week and is at the home stretch to a full recovery.

It’s now my turn to show my support for her enormous efforts and the medical team at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. I will be shaving my head and raising funds in the process donating the proceeds to Peter Mac and Rare Cancers Australia. Research and funding for rare or less common cancers is limited and Rare Cancers Australia is determined to increase awareness, highlight the need for further research and initiate policy discussion and action to improve the lives and outcomes of all Australians living with a rare or less common cancer.

Furthermore, myself and others have enjoyed the satisfaction of running their hands through my curly locks, so I want to give that experience to someone going through chemotherapy. I also hope to donate my hair to make a wig giving more confidence to someone going through cancer treatment – and trust me, curls do get the girls ;)

I now ask for your support. My goal is to raise $5,000 by the end of March with any contribution you make towards my goal is much appreciated. Remember, this is just as much about awareness as it is raising money for a great cause.
