Hello our names our Corrina & Rosemary we are the sister/aunt of Rachel Herrera, 42, single mother of 3 grandmother of 1.
Rachel lives in Rural Haxtun Colorado she works a full time day job 40 plus hours a week and part time nights at a local cafe.
On 2/23/15 Rachel drove herself to the local E.R. with pain in her abdomen. after a series of test they discovered a mass and tranferred her by ambulance to a medical center in Lovelend Co. 2 hours away.
After 2 days and further testing they finally diagnosed her with stage 3c Ovarian Cancer. On 2/25/15 she was transferred to PVH in FT. Collins Co. for surgery the following day. The surgery consisted of a complete Hysterectomy including the removal of her appendix, partial colon, partial lining of her stomach and scraping of her bladder, she also had a medi port inserted in her front right shoulder which she will be receiving her Chemotherapy every 3 weeks for the next 6 months. Each Chemo session will be in Fort Collins Co. which is a 5 hour round trip drive. During this time Rachel will not be able to work.
Although Rachel has the support of family and many friends the financial strain on her and her family will be incredibly hard. There is no specific amount we can ask for all we can do is keep our faith in humanity and hope after reading her story you can contribute to her cause in any way.
