For those of you that know Steve Seigelman, you know what an amazing, kind-hearted and loving man that he is. And for those of you who know his beautiful loving wife Sheri, his amazing "daddy's girl" daughter Brielle and his caring son Casey you know and understand this urgent plea for help.
For those of you who don't know....
Steve and Sheri Seigelman, are the most outgoing, giving, fun and carefree couple I have had the pleasure of knowing for the last 15 years. Together they have tought me and showed many others how easy it is to give and to love. Just the simple last minute get-together had love poured into every drop of food, drink, conversation and fun. From the Michael Jackson celebration to the annual Thanksgiving gathering and all the crazy parties in between, everyone knew the night would be filled of love, laughter and amazing memories. That's just how they rolled.
Shortly before Christmas 2014, Steve was feeling tired and felt an unusual pattern in his heart beat. Together Steve and Sheri decided to take Steve to dr to run some routine tests to determine what might be the cause. What they learned next would change their lives forever. Steve was diagnosed with colon cancer which had spread from his colon and entered his liver. This was just the beginning of their nightmare....
If you or someone you know have ever had to deal with a similiar situation, you know and understand the heartache, the "why us" and "why nows"....and the "what do we do nows."
Not long after his diagnosis they are hit with yet another blow. Their family dog and best friend of over 15 years "randomly stopped eating, then stopped walking. Within a week, Buffy died at home.
So much heartache and sorrow in the lives of a usually happy, vibrant and fun-loving family in such a short time. Now faced with the reality that Steve cannot and may not be able to return to work anytime soon, they are struggling to make ends meet. The doctors decided that with an bi-weekly round of chemo for the next 8 months, Steve will have a good fight against the cancer. The cost PER treatment alone is $950 every 2 weeks (with insurance!) I can't imagine trying to pay this on top of the other monthly bills and I certainly can't imagine anyone who knows and loves this family not wanting to help. Sheri mentioned looking for a second job...I told her she was crazy but I understood her desire to fix everything herself....but after her full time 9-10 hours a day job and her 5-6 per day nurse to Steve, mother and friend to her daughter Brielle and brave soldier to her teenage son Casey....her working a second job is not even possible.
Let's pull together, pull out our wallets and empty our piggy banks and show this family the love they have share with each and every one of us year round, 24/7!
