NLCN Teacher Appreciation Fund

After serving the families of Niwot and surrounding communities for nearly 40 years, the Neighborhood Learning Center of Niwot will close its doors for good and the end of May .
Teresa Litman (an NLCN employee for 28 years, far right), Cathy Kiyoto (20 years, glasses), Cristina Maginot (9 years, far left) and Director Lori Freitas (10 years, nametag "Lori" :-) have touched the lives of hundreds of local children. Many of their first pre-school students have become parents themselves. NLCN has been not just a job, but a family and a home to these amazing teachers for so long, that the transition to "what comes next" is filled with emotions.
The parents of current NLCN students are organizing this fundraiser to show our deepest appreciation to Teresa, Cathy, Cristina and Lori -- the bulk of whatever money we raise will be split equally among these four teachers as they embark on new adventures -- transitioning to new jobs, nearing retirement, and/or other plans. A portion will also be shared with their amazing colleagues -- Deb (recently retired teacher), Emily (school cook/camp aid and a former NLCN student) and Heidi (part-time teacher). The parents will also use a small portion of the funds to create small memory books for the teachers, with photos of the school and students.
If you prefer to contribute in person, you may bring your donation to the school during regular business hours in a sealed envelope labeled "attn: NLCN Teacher Fund" -- or bring it with you to the NLCN Farewell Picnic on May 20, which is open to the extended group of NLCN parents, alumni, Niwot community members and business leaders, and all admirers of the school.
