William

Hi my name is Karen and I want raise some money for my cousin William who has sadly been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. It has been so hard for his family and friends to watch him enduring the effects of this most awful disease. The money would be to buy some VR technology to hopefully take William away from his difficulties if only for a short time. His dream was to fly in a helicopter and that no longer possible in the real world but it is in the virtual world. Research has proven the beneficial effects from VR therapy and MSPs at Scottish Parliament were shown it’s benefits for many people including people with MND. Unfortunately due to Covid no one who provides this service is allowed in hospitals at this present time but a local company did recommend VR technology we could buy and this is what we want to raise funds for. He also told me that the technology can be really remarkable for people in Williams situation . If we are lucky enough to meet the target any extra money would go to MND Scotland  or The Doddie Weir Foundation to help care and support people with MND and to help fund research in to treatments and hopefully one day a cure. Also when William has no more use of the technology we would donate it to where it could be used for others in a similar situation. William is a truly remarkable man and much loved and we as a family remain in awe of his resilience in dealing with MND and anything to lighten his load in the smallest way would be amazing.    Karen
