We are on baby time, but will need to overcome some difficult challenges in the near future. First and foremost, the long road back to Australia...

Our son's creation story...

8-9 months of a mystery illness.
We thought everything from iron deficiency to gluten intolerance through to digestive issues and even water-borne bacteria.

Restating that we didn't know India was pregnant...
We've talked about trying soon but we never imagined how soon.

I spoke to our son in the stars a week ago at Mushroom Valley. I said...

"I think we are ready for you down here"
"Come whenever you're ready up there".

He has a good sense of humour apparently...

India's water breaks.
She understands finally.

You're gonna be a dad text:

"Hey Jordan, this is Liv (a rainbow sister here in Nepal). I'm messaging on behalf of India, as she has gone into labour. Things are going okay here so far, if you could stay in connection and wifi signal in this time please. I'll keep you updated. Congratulations you're going to be a dad!"

12 hour drive from Ravenshoe to Airlie.
Sleep in a tent at a servo.
12 hour drive from Airlie to Brisbane.

Made it safely to my flight with some help from an old friend ❤️

80 hours of labour with round the clock rainbow vigil. Song, massage, support, guidance and protection.

After 3 days and nights of labour, India decided to go to a Nepalese hospital.
A decision she made freely without concern, fear or coercion.

Baby is born while I'm in Brisbane Airport.

Friday morning
Flight leaves Brisbane to Kuala Lumpur.
Stop in Bali Depensar (not sure why).
My ticket says collect your bags yourself in Kuala Lumpur so I get off to do so.
I realise we aren't in Kuala Lumpur.
I miss my flight and book the next one.

3 missed flights.
Depensar. Kuala Lumpur. Kathmandu.
I slept for 7 hrs since I started last Wednesday. Found some hippies at Kathmandu airport. They had heard about the woman who didn't know she was pregnant ❤️

Nearly got into a fight at the airport because some guy said I was taking too long to fill out my visa application. I told him to fuck off.
Fuse must be getting short. Need sleep.

Kathmandu

Overnight bus to Kohalpur
A man child punches the back of my seat in response to me reclining my chair on an overnight bus 3 times in a row.
I turned and spoke with him reasonably calmly the 1st and 2nd time.

My calm evaporated on the 3rd round of strikes into my back.
Dunno if he didn't understand what I said the 1st and 2nd time but he certainly understood the 3rd time.

Another failed connecting bus.

Spend a night in Kohalpur.
11 hours of much needed sleep.

Monday 25th - The day I met my son

I take an 8 hour bus to the village India is staying.
About halfway there and a rockslide blocks the path.
We wait for an excavator to clear the road then continue. 8 hours journey turns into 12 hours.

So close...

1 hour away.
By now everyone knows my story.
The whole bus is supporting me.
They taught me to say
"Today I will see my son. Go fast!" In Hindi.
I employ the phrase at every opportunity.

I make it to my new family well after dark.

A new chapter begins...
