Hurricane Florence arrived in New Bern North Carolina with such force and surge no one could have imagined. Everyone in Craven County NC was evacuated and most people heeded the warning. We left behind our lives, our pictures ,our treasures passed down for generations, all we had worked for so many years.
This was to be our last home, our retirement home. Such a wonderful place , blue skies, boating ,golfing. It truly was our dream come true. As you can see from the pictures the inside of our home is no longer livable. It has been gutted down to the studs, no walls, no floors , nothing just a shell. Thankfully , it can be rebuilt.
We are currently living in a RV.
Contractors as you can imagine are scarce, and asking premium prices. Our best guess is we will be living in the RV for several months. We have leaning trees which need to be removed which insurance will not cover; the list goes on.
Eventually, after the construction we will need living room,kitchen,dining room, bedroom ,den furnishings. Lawn mowers, and all that comes with maintaining landscaping. Food is being supplied by the Red Cross and other organizations, mainly we need money to pay current bills, insurances do not cover any living expenses, gas for the generators, vehicles, we don’t have any utilities. It is hard to explain but any money you can spare would be extremely appreciated.
