These funds are for Robert, Dawn, and Elizabeth Baird. They have some financial struggles at this time.
Bob is an Army Veteran, having served in Vietnam 1967-1968 as a helicopter mechanic, working on the rotors when they were damaged after getting shot up in the battles.
After coming home he married Dawn and they have been together 50 years.
They gave their lives to Jesus Christ in the seventies and felt the call from God to go to the Mission field. They started a family while preparing and studying for the Mission with Pioneer Bible Translators. Their child was born with special needs, but their wanting to serve the Lord was strong and kept them going towards the goal.
In 1982 they left the USA for Africa where they served in the Congo as a support team for the Bible translators. Teaching, preaching, raising their 3 children, they lived among the native people, learning their language and ways so they could be a blessing to them.
In 2012 Bob started to feel sick and have symptoms no one could diagnose. Finally in 2016 they had to leave their mission field to come home to try to get Bob well. They wanted to return but it was not to be.
After many tests and much time spent at Mayo Clinic, he was diagnosed with Meige Syndrome. It is very rare and there is no known cause. He has had multiple surgeries to help with the muscle spasms and to help keep his eyes open. It is painful all the time but he is trusting the Lord through it all.
Now this summer he was diagnosed with stage 3 COPD.
The ongoing treatments, visits to Mayo Clinic, the cost of the medicine to help keep the symptoms in check are all very expensive and hard to get on top of.
We as their friends are asking that maybe you could help them a little as they have given much of themselves selflessly. We pray you find it in your hearts to do so and we thank you.
