Support for Gretchen

Dear Friends,
One of our Mooring family members needs our help. Gretchen, or 'Betty' as many of us call her, went to the doctor a few weeks back because she felt sick after eating. Thinking it was nothing more than acid reflux given the incredibly healthy lifestyle she leads (teaching yoga and practicing vegetarianism), she went in for some testing. Fast forward one week. Gretchen is now fighting for her life. She has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer that has metastasized to her brain, spine, breast and stomach, and during the first week of July she will begin a rigorous course of chemotheraphy and radiation.
This news comes as a shock to Gretchen and all who know and love her. Yet, hopes are high and attitudes are positive that with timely advanced treatment options the cancer can be controlled and Gretchen will be able to continue enjoying her life and spending time with her family, specifically, her nieces, whom she adores (and who are also part of The Mooring family)!
In an effort to help minimize the financial strain that will come as a result of not being able to work during treatment, her friends and co-workers at The Mooring are determined to raise $25,000 during the month of July. Any size donation helps and is appreciated beyond belief.
In addition, The Mooring will be hosting a fundraiser on Monday, July 17th from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. All proceeds will go to Gretchen. For more information about this event, please contact Justine King at The Mooring.
