Single adoptive mom needs safe car!

Hello, my name is Shalonne. I'm a 46 year old recently divorced, displaced homemaker, and single mother to my 5 year old granddaughter. I was a mostly stay at home mom for 30 years, it's what my husband and I decided would be best for our family. In 2013 I was given the choice to allow my 2 year old granddaughter, who was in our care, to go into foster care or to take her and leave my home due to my husbands violence. So we left, I had to push start the car and pop the clutch to start it, but we left. We have been on our own since. I filed for a divorce and it was granted last year, so I now get a little help from spousal support. I have adopted my 5 year old granddaughter, we rent a flat in Michigan. I work as a home health aid but make only about $10,000 a year. I am very good living within my means, I try not to buy things that aren't needs, don't drink or smoke. I do side jobs, clean houses, walk dogs, whatever I can to make extra money.
I did manage to purchase a 1996 dodge caravan with my taxes a couple years ago. It seems to be one bandaid after another. I was going to try and get something better this year but anything I can afford is just as old with just as many problems.
Since I don't have much college my ability to make more money is very limited. We just need a safe vehicle that I can get my granddaughter to and from school and her Dr. appointments at Children's Hospital in Detroit every other month or so. And I can get to and from work. The weather here has been extremely cold making very dangerous if you should get stranded, especially since we both have asthma. Now that all the court dates have finally ended I plan to return to school in the fall if not sooner and try to finish my nursing degree but not having a reliable vehicle makes that more difficult. I
If you have the means to help, it will be greatly appreciated. Your gift has ability to make a huge difference in our quality of life.
Thank You for reading,
Shalonne
