Nitches Unite! Help Patti Through Her Treatment!

If you're reading this, you've probably already read our Caring Bridge journal entries spelling out the story of Patti's journey through cancer so far. If you haven't read through the journal entries, here's a little summary:

Our mom was recently diagnosed with early-stage Esophageal Adenocarcinoma. After a surgery in October, we were optimistic that the cancerous area was removed. The follow up endoscopy however, revealed that the cancer had invaded the surrounding lymph-nodes. To get well, she will begin treatment immediately, the week of thanksgiving, starting with daily radiation and weekly chemotherapy for six weeks. Once her body has had a couple of months to heal after treatment, she will undergo a life changing surgery with a long and difficult recovery period.

She is surrounded by her loving family and friends who will be so graciously helping her to travel to and from John's Hopkins Bayview every day for the duration of the treatment. In our true Type-A personality fashion, we have started a list of things that might make life a little more comfortable for her during this time, including alleviating the burden of additional unavoidable costs such as parking, toll fees, and gas. Any monetary donation would be used to cover these travel expenses as well as specialized food products and other medical expenses not covered by insurance. As we've said before, we are lucky enough to be financially blessed and are not in dire need of assistance, but with any new big life event, there are associated and unexpected costs. If your love language is gifts, this would be the most helpful gift for her to receive. Please of course continue to send your well wishes and "thinking of you" texts. Those above all are what keep her going!
