Nita Sanghera's memorial march and rally
Donation protected
UCU's President Elect, Nita Sanghera lost her six month battle with cancer on 16 January. In Nita's relatively short time as a regional and national officer she inspired a huge number of new people to become involved with the trade union movement and supported a great many members in campaigning across the West Midlands and the country. She was an active anti-racist, campaigner for women's rights and a great supporter of the Palestinians.
Nita's family and friends would like to invite you and members of your college's UCU branch to Nita's memorial march and rally.
Sunday 9th February
Assemble at Victoria Square at 1pm (1.30pm march)
Memorial Rally 2.30pm
Aston Legacy Centre, 144 Potters Lane Aston, Birmingham
B6 4UU (formerly The Drum)
followed by refreshments and licenced bar.
We anticipate a large number of people will want to pay their respects. Can your branch support us in facilitating this? Please pass motions at your branch or regional committee and we can let you know where to send donations.
In solidarity,
Nita's family, friends and comrades.
