HAITI - BOUND!
Life is funny sometimes. Earlier this year as I was thinking about the cold and snowy Michigan winter - I got a cruise pamphlet in the mail from Royal Caribbean. One of their ports of call was Labadee, Haiti. I used it as an opportunity to talk to Max about how blessed he
was to live in the U.S., and lead the live he does, and how others in this world are not as fortunate. I made a point of telling him that all of Haiti was not a "cruise destination" and that the difference between what the people cruising to Labadee, Haiti see, and what those living in Port Au Prince, deal with on a day to day basis, is like the difference between night and day!"
A day later at church they announced a High School Mission Trip that would go to HAITI. I thought, "okay, God, I'll see if it's something Max wants to do". After church I talked to Max. He thought going there and working among the people for a week sounded great, so he filled out the application papers. During the process we found I could apply to chaperone as well - so I completed my application and we submitted them for review.
Today - we found out we've been accepted and the trip will happen in late July. However, in order for both of us to fly there and work - we'll need to raise nearly $3,000.
Since the lives we live are SOOO different from that of the Haitians we'll be working with (like night and day) - we've decided to do a NIGHT into DAY walk that will begin at midnight on a Friday and continue til noon on Saturday as a fundraiser.
We hope you will consider supporting us in this venture.
