Support for the Niemi Family
My name is Angelique, and I am working with other volunteers in our community of Cortland, Ohio, to raise money for Kathleen Niemi, her husband and two young children.
When mother, business owner and community volunteer Kathleen Niemi was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a type of blood cancer, about nine years ago, she vowed the illness would not stop her from doing what she loved most - involving herself in the community and making good memories for her two children. Despite frequent chemotherapy treatments, Kathleen became a Girl Scout troop leader, was involved in her church and organized her children's classroom parties at school. In addition, she helped her husband in the day-to-day operations of the Dairy Queen store the couple owns in Warren, Ohio.
But after the disease stopped responding to several recent treatments, doctors told Kathleen they were running out of options and advised her to start researching other treatments at hospitals throughout the country.
All money we raise through this page, as well as through the benefit dinner we are holding for the Niemis in April, will go to the family for medical and travel expenses.
