Nico started his life in a puppy mill. He spent 5 years there. Sometime during his tenure there, someone broke his jaw. No one cared enough about him to take him to a vet to fix it. He survived. Every day he ate his food despite the pain of a broken jaw. Every day he suffered. He couldn't close his mouth because of the break. Every day he struggled to survive. His teeth rotted. His jaw started to heal but in the wrong position. Still, no one cared enough to give him pain medicine or take him to a vet. Yet he survived.
One day the puppy mill decided he wasn't needed anymore and some rescuers took him. They got him neutered. They got rid of his parasites. They pulled the rotten teeth. They x-rayed his broken jaw and found that it needed to be surgically repaired by a specialist.
This fund is for Nico's jaw surgery. Your donations will help IGCA Rescue pay for the surgery and the metal plate that are necessary for Nico to live a normal life. Help us show Nico that his struggle was worth it. Help us show Nico that not all humans are cruel. Nico's amazing spirit carried him this far, he's not ready to give up and neither are we. This is our plea for Nico, please help us make Nico's remaining life amazing and filled with love, tenderness, and warmth.
UPDATE: For the past five days, Nico and Gianna have been huddling in their crate, they only come out at night to potty, eat and drink. Every time I walk by the crate I slow down and gently touch each of them. They hate it and shrink away from my hand. Today I took the top part of the crate off and forced them to be in an open room. After failing to find a place to hide Nico settled on the sofa and Gianna choose the electric blanket next to the radiator. They're still pretty stressed and are hyper-alert for danger but they're in the world today and they're making it through the experience ok. A giant step forward! I'm so impressed by all the love and donations! What a wonderful community!
