Nicole's Ongoing Health Issues

In December of 2015, at 32 years of age, Nicole Thomassen's life was changed due to a yet to be diagnosed illness. After an onset of antibiotic induced C. Difficle the mystery began. Through many rounds of treatment both experimental and traditional, once the condition cleared, the domino effect was evident. After returning to work, her condition worsened and several neurological problems surfaced. This combination has left her unable to work, and reliant on private disability insurance, of which claims have been closed until a formal diagnosis is found.
Currently Nicole is in the hospital again and being treated for Colitis and G.I issues, Pancreatitis, Gastritis, Severe Insomnia, Central Nervous System Sleep Apnea and several other painful and debilitating symptoms. The Doctors are still searching to find a diagnosis that would include all of these problems.
At this point, the treatments change on a daily basis, and many are very expensive scans, tests and prescriptions. In addition, all of her care must be handled at Massachusetts General Hospital which is almost 2 hours from home.
All funds raised will be used to ensure Nicole continues to get the best care and treatment plans, as well as aid safe travel to and from the hospital in hopes to get her back home. Over $30,000 in medical bills have accumulated from 2018 alone, and some have moved to collections. We also hope to clear up the emergent bills and those in collection to make sure we do not lose our home in the process of healing. This help would also allow her to have the 24 hour care at home the Doctor's are suggesting for a short time.
We have not reached out for help out all before now, however you can not put a price on life and whatever it takes, Nicole needs and deserves her life back. She has worked very hard to be the amazing RN she is, and wants to be healthy enough to "get back on the other side of the bed" and care for others.
