Nicole Adkins

Nicole Adkins, an APC Senior – Fennimore, WI, was diagnosed with a Stage 4 Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor. It is a rare form of cancer that has spread to her liver, covering nearly 45% of it. The head of the tumor is on her pancreas which has also caused her to be diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

She has recently started Chemo in an effort to shrink the tumors. Once the tumors are small enough, she will endure a 12 hour Whipple procedure to remove part of the pancreas, and debulk her liver removing as much of the tumor as they can. This will include an extended hospital stay for recovery, so the medical bills in the near future will be significant. Nicole has already had to miss quite a bit of work due to many doctors’ appointments and now chemo and has used up most of her sick time with many more appointments and chemo to come.

Nicole has been a dedicated TDS employee for 8 years and has maintained her hard-working, positive attitude throughout all of this. She has been up many late nights/early mornings as she is one of two people on the APC Team that handle the majority of all the testing and releases for several of the systems used by TDS, including the main Siebel system.

Nicole has two children, Olivia (14) and Carter (6) who are the light of her life. This unexpected diagnosis has been hard on her, her family, and her entire APC team, not including the financial burden that having cancer brings with it. But, she is a fighter and will get through this with the support of her friends, family, and TDS colleagues. Any assistance we can give Nicole and her family would be greatly appreciated.
