Hey everyone!
I've decided to make this GoFundMe to help out my cousin, Nickole and her family.
On Monday, October 7th she was on her way to Hershey Medical Center with a friend for an appointment. She does not know exactly what happened since she was knocked unconscious. Police had said that the driver hit a deer when it had jumped the median, over three lanes of traffic, and jumped into the vehicle through the windshield on the passenger side, injuring Nickole.
She was transported to Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA. Here she has had three surgeries so far on both left and right lower extremities. She sustained many injuries from the accident, including (but not limited to) an orbital fracture, multiple face/mouth lacerations, both ankles & feet crushed, and lower left leg fractures. She still remains in the hospital as of today.
She will not be able to put weight on her feet for at least three months (if surgeries were successful). She will be going home in a wheelchair, which is the only thing that insurance will cover. To add to their regular monthly expenses, they have to purchase (out of pocket) a slide board (for wheelchair to chair transporting), drop arm toilet chair, etc. She will have home nursing coming to her home as well, which some of you may know is only covered for a short period of time. Eventually she will have to go to rehab when they determine that she can start using her legs.
Her husband Justin has a full time job and has missed a good bit of work already. His co workers have graciously donated their time and the materials to build a ramp for Nickole to be able to get in and out of the house with.
I would like to raise some money to help lift the financial burden off of their shoulders during this time for travel, regular and medical expenses. I know it would mean a lot to Nickole, Justin, and the girls. Nickole and I have gotten a lot closer over the years and it breaks my heart seeing her have to go through this.
