With heaviness of heart I create this account, as you may know our Dad, Nick Dean was diagnosed in February of this year with prostate cancer that quickly metastasized into his bones and continued to spread into his spinal cord and hips causing him great pain and leaving him unable to stand or walk. He put up a strong and valiant fight, however, the cancer beat him down and he grew tired of taking 16 pills a day. After careful consideration he decided to sign up with Hospice and was at peace with his decision. He tried to hold on but only lasted 18 days before he passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon.
It was a blessing that we were able to keep him at home and help take care of him and yes, some days were much worse than others. It’s hard to see someone you love in that much pain and screaming out for help. But the positive side of things is that during the last few months we had opportunity to say our goodbyes and to have some heavy conversations about life and death. Dad wanted more time, he still had adventures planned. And he struggled with the fact that he was unprepared financially. Dad was a proud man and raised us to be the same, but we also know that there are Family and Friends who wish to contribute to his cremation & memorial and to help knock down some of the medical expenses that we have racked up. This is your opportunity to help.
The funds raised are going directly to help pay for the cremation, memorial and medical costs that our family will still struggle with.
