Nicholas Holland Medical Expenses

Nicholas is 15 years old and has been battling Neurological Lyme disease with two Lyme co-infections (Bartonella and Babesia) and Mycoplasma for the past 2 years. He spent the majority of last school year out of school. This year he was hoping to start high school and be able to return to his normal active self. Unfortunately, the nuero Lyme and co infections are still causing him debilitating neurological symptoms that only allow him to attend school for 2 periods a day. Nicholas' entire world has been turned upside down. Just two short years ago, he was an extremely active adolescent who spent the majority of his day outside - riding his bike, hanging with friends or playing basketball and lacrosse. Today, Nicholas spends the majority of his day in bed trying to muster up the energy to attend school a few periods a day and then endure home instruction from tutors. On a"good day" you might find Nicholas trying to engage in a "normal" teenage activity. Those are the days that his contagious smile, his faith in God, and positive mindset amaze us all. His ability to persevere is incredible.

Nicholas has been to countless doctors and specialist over the last two years and has been given countless treatments to try and rid this disease. Some are covered by insurance while many were not. At this time, there is one treatment that has proven to give Nicholas and his family hope - the treatment is Ozone Therapy. Ozone Therapy is not covered by insurance and is not reimbursable by insurance. This is a very costly out-of-pocket treatment and the family has incurred insurmountable medical expenses trying to provide Nicholas with the treatment to improve his health, mental well being and quality of life. In addition, his IV Antibiotic treatment, which was covered by insurance for only 28 days is complete and the insurance company is refusing to pay for any additional IV antibiotic treatment. Nicholas' parents, Marie (Missi) and Tom Holland, have exhausted all resources to pay for his treatments.
