Hello! My name is Nic Charge. I am a 25 year old university graduate with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a genetic condition which causes progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. There are around 2,500 patients in the UK and an estimated 300,000 sufferers worldwide. To learn more, click here.
I am hoping to raise the money needed for a powered mobile arm support system, the Neater Arm Support (shown in the video below).
The Neater Arm Support will enable me to use and exercise my arms and thus regain some independence, while at the same time satisfying the sci-fi fan in me. To learn more about the system, click here.
Part of Duchenne is losing the ability to use one’s arms, the above video is the first time in ten years that I have moved my arms independently.
