Nicavana Project Artisans

Donation protected
Hi Everyone,

Erika from The Nicavana Project here. We're looking to raise $1,000 to help our artisans in Nicaragua, as the political climate has greatly affected the availability of work for our artisans. Businesses all over the country have shut down and laid off thousands of workers. Manufacturers, like their local tannery, are no longer producing leather regularly as sales have nearly halted, and sadly, we do not order enough to constitute the tannery operating.

Due to very limited supplies, we have not been able to give our artisans regular work to support their families. Our families are facing very trying times,  and we want to make sure there is enough money to get them through the next few months while we game plan on how we can continue to get regular work to them.

We plan on sending all money we receive to our artisans via Western Union (or artisans do not have bank accounts to send to in Nicaragua), in small increments of no more than $300 per transaction. Per our artisans, it is dangerous to be seen with cash, and have already experienced being robbed and bribed by "police." This is why we will be sending multiple wires down.

Every transaction to our artisans will be screen shot and posted on our Facebook page, as we value transparency and as a reminder of how many of you are helping families in need.

Thank you to so many of you for your continued support of our project, and for supporting our artisans.
