Help Nic pay his medical bills

Hi all! I know it’s been a while since I updated you all. Nic’s been hanging out at home the last four weeks letting the last procedure do what it needed to. He is back in surgery this morning to do a couple things (warning this may be gruesome):

1: Remove his hand that is currently attached to the skin on his stomach

2: Do skin graphs to cover up some more of the injury.

He will be in the hospital recovering over the holiday weekend. I’ll do my best to post another update in the next couple of days.

Nic got to come home today! He will get to recover in his own bed for about 3 weeks until the next surgery. Over the next few weeks he will be making frequent trips to the doctor to double check healing. He and all of us are extremely grateful to everyone’s kind words and donations!

My younger brother, Nic Pax was working at his property in Elizabeth, CO April 6th when he had an unfortunate accident with a piece of heavy equipment. After being transported to a medical center in Lone Tree by ambulance, the medical team decided he needed a hand specialist to ensure he didn't lose his hand. He was transported by air to different medical center where he underwent an emergency surgery and spent five-days in the burn unit. Since then, he has had three additional surgeries and counting. The most recent surgery involved a procedure intended to help skin regrow on his hand. This procedure requires days (unknown at this point) of recovery time in the hospital where he is currently in ICU.

Nic is a Fireman and Paramedic for Franktown Fire Department and is unfortunately out of work for an extensive amount of time. His amazing crew has been able to donate sick time and work his shifts to ease stress throughout his recovery. However, he will still have a large amount of unexpected medical bills. This GoFundMe is specifically for medical bills and the supplies needed to care for his injury as he continues his recovery.

I did not provide a ton of details of the injury because it is gory. I will do my best to keep the GoFundMe page updated on his status and recovery.
