Nia's College Tuition Campaign

Hello everyone! My name is Nia, and I am entering my second year at the University of Oregon as a Journalism and Communications major. I aspire to be a sports journalist, and I am hoping to obtain an internship with ESPN next summer. However, I may not be able to return to school because I have a financial hold on my account. My mom is a single parent, and she does not have the means to pay the money to have the hold released because she is struggling financially. She paid out of pocket for my out-of-state fees last year, and it was difficult for her. She helped me even though she could not afford the fees because her love for me outweighed the cost of my education.

I have been asked numerous times about loans. Unfortunately, loans are not an option for me. We tried that route and were unsuccessful. I need to have my account paid before September 15, 2017 because that is when late registration opens, and I am supposed to move into my residence on September 19th; school begins on September 25, 2017. The financial hold is preventing me from continuing my education at my dream school. Any amount will be helpful!

This request was not easy for me to write. In fact, I was quite fearful that many would not believe that my plight is legitimate. I truly want to finish my degree but will not be able to do that if I do not have my bill paid. I figured that I would give this way a chance because I've seen my mother donate to many charitable causes......even transient people. More importantly, I love my mother so much that I do not want her to struggle anymore.  I am hoping that those in my community and others outside of it will help me in the same way that I've seen my mother help others in need.
