We were given no hope but were granted a miracle.
This is NHS frontline worker Jayne Gerlach who contracted covid19 whilst caring for others who had the virus and spent 58 days in ITU and was not expected to survive with talk of her care being removed.
She works for the NHS in Northamptonshire and was hospitalised with Covid 19 and its aftermath for 129 days.
She is unable to walk unaided cannot shower herself or do any other personal care 3 months after being discharged and needs daily care.
She has mostly worked in the care system firstly with adults who had learning disabilites then moved onto working in mental health before ending up working on a ward at Kettering General where she has worked for the last five years
She fell ill within 4 weeks of returning to work and was admitted to Kettering hospital on 26th April and tested positive for Covid 19.
Within 4-5 days she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit where she was sedated and ventilated and her family were told that the hospital had never seen anyone as ill survive this vicious virus.
She is now Covid free but sadly has extensive muscle wastage and cannot move most of her body and needs to relearn physical skills we take for granted but she can speak but is still very breathless.
