My Uncle, Dennis, has always been one of the kindest, most giving people you will ever meet. Growing up in Illinois, he volunteered for the Fire Department, worked as an EMT, and, among other things, volunteered for FEMA.
My Aunt Mary, Dennis' Wife, worked as a police officer in Illinois, and most recently was a dispatcher for a College's Police Department. A few years ago she was diagnosed with cancer. They moved to Texas to get out of the cold and to be closer to my father, my Uncle's brother. My Uncle works as an Emergency Medical Technician.
Their son is going to school and also working at a Correctional Facility.
As you can tell, their family is dedicated to helping and saving others.
Unfortunately, my aunt's breast cancer, which has spread throughout her body, took a turn for the worse - and on Sunday she went home from the hospital to be placed on hospice because there is nothing else the hospital can do for her.
My Uncle has to continue going into work because he is out of Paid Time Off and cannot afford not to earn his paycheck. This means that while his wife is home dying, he has to go into work, rather than spending her last days on earth with her. He also cannot afford a funeral for his wife. My Uncle also cannot afford to stay in his house once my aunt passes and he doesn't have her second income anymore.
Besides the devastating loss of my aunt, my uncle's life is in shambles.
Anything that you can donate to help him be able to afford to take unpaid time off and spend the last few days at his wife's side, and help pay to celebrate her life once she passes, well, words can't even do it justice.
If you can't afford to donate, please just keep Dennis, Mary, and their son in your prayers.
