Cycling for Hospice Care

Growing up in life whether you’re a kid, teen, or adult its most likely the case that you want to make your mom proud. I lost my mom in 2013 to her 8 her battle with cancer, but there hasn’t been a day since then that I have given up on making her proud. As most of you know I am a nurse and have been now for four years. I have had a variety of experience but now find myself working a lot in Victoria Hospice and the Palliative unit at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. If you don’t know exactly what hospice and palliative care is,  it is simply “comfort"  when end of life is near. Some people may think that after what I went through with my mom I would run away from being around “dying” people or not want to stick my self in an environment like that but in truth it has made me a stronger, more compassionate palliative care nurse. Hospice care on Vancouver Island needs much support for funding its programs and hospice care facilities which is why wonderful events like Cycle For Life has been created. Without events such of these our beautiful Vancouver Island would not be able to provide the amazing support it does for the dying or their friends and family in the way that it does. So on July 25th I will be cycling 200km in two days along side others in hopes to raise funds to support our programs for hospice care on Vancouver Island. I will be doing this to make my mom proud.
