Gender confirmation surgery

My name has not always been Larissa. At birth I was given the name Lawrence and was called Larry. The problem was that I never felt like a Larry. In fact I never felt male at all, ever. I suffered a lot of shaming, bullying and beatings because I was unable to conform to the norms of gender in the 1940s, 50s, 60s etc and gradually learned to hide my feeling deep inside. I lived most of my life depressed and lonely. About 25 years ago it came down to defying the world and living according to my inner feelings or ending it all. I chose to begin the long process of slowly coming out to my friends and later the world. I obtained counseling, hormone therapy and began to live as I should. Unfortunately I was never too well off and the surgery was very expensive. Insurance didn't cover one dime of any of it. Now I have an opportunity for partial coverage from Medicare. That would leave my portion plus some related expenses. I see this as a limited opportunity as the political situation could take that coverage away. My age is also a limiting factor. I really want to feel complete for the first time in my life. I changed my name seven years ago and have lived as a woman for almost 15 years. It is time to make this dream come true but that is almost impossible on Social Security. I spend much of my time doing lots of volunteer work but will have to quit to get a job to raise money for this surgery. You could help allow me to continue helping others by helping me reach this goal
