Neighbours for the Planet was formed in November 2018 by a group of concerned citizens worried about the worsening effects of climate change.
Our goal is to create more public awareness of the climate crisis, to inspire others to take action in their personal lives, in their communities and to push for systemic change at all levels of government.
With the help of many volunteers, we have managed to accomplish a lot in our short lifespan. From hosting a Green New Deal town hall, two climate strikes, a curbside seed giveaway, multiple online climate presentations and organizing meetings with MPs. But we have also realized that to take more meaningful and impactful actions we need to apply for grants and funding.
At the end of September, we were made aware of the "Climate Awareness and Action Fund" that was announced by the federal government. We got together with our climate partners in York Region and brainstormed on some proposal ideas. And the idea of a Climate Action and Resource Centre was born!
However, in order to be eligible for this funding we had to incorporate as a non-profit organization. Due to the tight timeline to write up the proposal as well as to quickly incorporate, we didn't have time to set up a GoFundMe to help with the incorporation costs of $500.
But we are asking for your help now!
While we wait to hear if our Climate Centre proposal is approved, we are requesting input and feedback and what people would like to see. Please fill out our survey here .
In the meantime we are also reviewing other funding opportunities to make a bigger impact in our fight against the climate crisis!

The climate crisis is real. It effects each one of us and each one of us can and MUST do our part to reduce its impact. We need to STEP UP and leave our children and grandchildren with a beautiful planet and bright future!
