Niagara Falls Public Pianos

Between Fall 2017 and Summer 2018 we raised $2080 (of a $3000 goal)

I have the same goal for next year!

Instead of creating a whole new page/campaign for 2019- I have raised the goal amount to $5000 to reflect the difference .

Niagara Falls Public Pianos was created to bring music to life on the streets of Niagara Falls, USA!

Following in the foot steps of cities ranging from London to New York, Niagara Falls has taken the leap to bring Public Pianos to the community.
In 2017 Rosie Lorenti, a local musician and co-founder of the Patchwork Theatre of Niagara,  after learning that there were no more Public Pianos in Western New York, took all of her personal savings and set the project in motion.

She took three donated upright pianos and had them painted. Covers were made by Custom Canvas Covers and a few personal donations were made to have them painted and coated with an exterior water sealant.

Each piano was placed in the Niagara Falls community with one goal: to bring happiness that is born through music and art to the public, free of charge.

Following the hashtag #NFpianos on Instagram and Facebook has proven that people from all over, locals and tourists, enjoyed these beautiful instruments on the streets. Music and art is a universal language and this project brought people together, got them outside, and exploring the city.

In 2018 we upped our game. Rosie promised she would get six pianos on the streets on Niagara Falls and that's exactly what she did.
She created this GoFundMe account to raise $3000 to get them out. We fell short and made it about 2/3 of the way. Not wanting to disappoint, Rosie covered the remaining costs herself and we added three pianos to our list.

1. Striped Piano @ Art Alley NF
2. Rainbow Piano @ Niagara Falls USA
3. Tetris Piano @ Old Falls Street USA
4. Team Teal Piano @ Sugar Street Cafe
5. Van Gogh Piano @ Niagara Arts & Cultural Center
6. Patchwork Piano @ 402 Center Street Lewiston, NY.

For 2019I want to make sure the six pianos we already have are in the best possible shape they can be.

After breaking down the numbers, it will take $3600.00 to put these pianos back on the streets in 2019.
In order to keep the same page for the campaign instead of creating a new one- I have changed the Goal Amount from $3000 that we had last year to $5000 to reflect the difference.

We did not meet our goal last year and only raised about $2000 but  made sure the pianos were out anyway.
I'll be doing that again.

Niagara Falls deserves this. We deserve this.

At this point in time, each piano needs to be moved to a storage area, evaluated, set up for repairs if necessary and re-tuned. Two of the six have suffered quite a bit of damage from the weather this summer. The maintenance to one piano ranges at about $500.
