New Wheels For Our Free Meals

Since 2018 Guru Nanak Seva; a group of volunteers from the local Sikh community, have been serving Free Hot Meals twice a week to the local community in Woolwich and Erith via our pop up FREE KITCHEN stall and we were looking to expand this free food service to other areas of South East London.

We have had the privilege of supporting the homeless, under priveleged families, victims of domestic abuse, key workers and mental health patients, as well sharing with the community to spread positivity during uncertain times.

During Covid, with the support of the local Sikh community, we were able to cook, pack and deliver over 2000 hot meals a week to 5 London Hospitals and isolating residents over 4 London Boroughs, on a daily basis. We have supported the Royal Borough Of Greenwich by providing hot meals to school children and their families during the winter holidays and often support Social Services and NHS charities by delivering hot meals to those in immediate need. We were also awarded a Bexley Civic Recognition of Voluntary Service Award in 2022.

We have been using our 21 year old van to make this service possible but we will no longer be able to use it after December 2022 as it will not pass another MOT and is not LEZ or ULEZ compliant.

Without a van we will have to end our service. Therefore we are trying to buy a new van.
