New wheelchair for Tony

On June 21, 2012, I was in an autovehicle accident which left me paralyzed below the chest. Since then, I have been working hard to gain and maintain my independence with numerous setbacks. No matter what happens, I know that I am strong and I will have a "normal" life, filled with joy and success, just as any other able-bodied person expects for themself.
One thing that is imperitive to my well being, is having a strong, dependable wheelchair so that I can have maximum mobility, and the ability to move as freely as possible. The wheelchair that I currently have, while serves me well, no longer suits my needs, as I got it shortly after my accident and lots of things have changed. My wheelchair is like a piece of sporting equipment, as it needs to be fully functional in order to operate correctly and protect me from injury; my wheelchair is my legs.
Every five years, insurance does assist in purchasing a new wheelchair, but just as any other medical related expense, it does come with an out of pocket cost. Unfortunately, due to my current medical expenses, I do not have the money to afford the $1600 co-pay that is partnered with the purchase of the new chair.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I hate asking for help. I like to be seen as strong and independent, but unfortunately, now, I have to ask. I know that at this time of year, money can be tight, and I fully understand if you can't contribute, take care of yourself first, but if there is any way you can help, I would be grateful beyond words. I feel like Sally Struthers, asking for money for the starving children right now.
