New Wheelchair

I'm Joseph Rowe and I need a new wheelchair. I had polio at age five and it paralyzed my upper body, including my breathing muscles. I still sleep in an iron lung, but during the day, I use a foot controlled wheelchair with a portable ventilator attached. I also use my feet to operate my computer, write, feed myself and cook.
I have two masters degrees and am working on my third. I worked for a major information technology company for twenty-seven years and had a good income, but was laid-off ten years ago. I have been unable to find a job since. I drove a van with my feet, but had to sell it after I was laid-off and now depend on public transportation.
My wheelchair is now six years old and is starting to fall apart. Medicare will cover eighty percent but that leaves me with a twenty-percent co-pay. I am living on a Social Security check and a $236 per month retirement check. I am currently overdrawn at my bank and that is a common occurence.
The type of wheelchair I use is incredibly expensive. The estimate is $70,000. I know, that would buy two nice cars, but that is what has happened to the price of medical equipment.
I'm starting this campaign in hopes of raising the $7,000 co-pay. If a lot of people contribute a little bit each, maybe it can be done. I will be eternally grateful if you help me get a new wheelchair.
