New Inclusive Playground at Yorkville Elementary

The Yorkville Elementary School PTO is fundraising to install a new, inclusive playground at Yorkville Elementary School. We have been conducting fundraisers at the school and making strides towards our goal, but we need additional funding to help get this project completed.

Having successfully fundraised $20,000+ towards this project we are now asking for your help to raise the funds required to bring this project to life.

The new playground will benefit ALL CHILDREN in our student body, 4K-8, staff and our community. Our objective is to include EVERYONE and provide a safe place where children of ANY ability can PLAY TOGETHER and equipment is appropriate for children with and without disabilities. We recognize that there are different types of disabilities that a person may have. They may be physical, mobility limitations, sensory disorders, social/emotional, learning differences and autism spectrum disorder. We want to take away and limit barriers or exclusions both physical & social to help every child achieve their full potential while at Yorkville.

An inclusive playground encourages PLAY which can lead to mutual understanding and friendships. We want to encourage children of ANY ability to interact & PLAY TOGETHER cohesively and learn from each other.

The proposed inclusive playground space would be welcoming and safe for ALL CHILDREN in the school and community. It will be fully accessible to the public during non-school hours.
