On Good Friday, my landlord notified me that he is evicting my performing arts venue, Red Sky Stage from its location in Downtown Petoskey, Michigan. Yelling at me on the phone, he told me to move out because I have been hosting 2 weekly recovery meetings for people with alcohol or drug addictions. I told him I would remedy whatever actual problems these groups were causing but he yelled back at me that there is nothing to fix, just get out.
I am working very hard every day to arrange for a new location nearby. The current location, 445 E Mitchell St remains open for the time being and continues to provide area residents with a wide ranging schedule of concerts, open mics, events, community meetings, music lessons and a variety of other events that serve the community.
I expect to be evicted soon and need money to help rent and equip a new location, move, and make modifications and improvements to the new location.
The need for funds is immediate as I have about a month to move out. Your support will make it possible to reopen Red Sky Stage as soon as possible so that. like the current Red Sky Stage, it can be an excellent, intimate coffee house style concert venue with top quality, warm sound that serves the community in many ways, including continuation of our hosting of weekly recovery meetings.
It has been my pleasure and honor to provide Petoskey and the surrounding area with a venue for entertainment and community events. I am deeply grateful for the outpouring of community support I have received since the eviction was announced and will be thrilled with any financial help you can provide at this challenging time.
in addition to my thanks, I will provide all donors with a voucher redeemable for two tickets to any Red Sky Stage event at the new location, two similar vouchers for any contribution over $50 and two Golden Ticket to all future events at the new facility to the person who makes the largest contribution.
