New heart for Brittany

I met Brittany in Nursing school in 2006.  She is a very special person.    Brittany is a great Nurse.  She is smart, dedicated, selfless and caring.  She is also a wonderful Mommy to a 5 year old son and a Rescue puppy as well.  Brittany has helped so many people throughout the years, now she needs our help.  Brittany needs a new heart.  Just a few months ago, she was healthy and in May 2019, all that changed.  She started feeling very tired, short of breath and had some tightness in her chest.  We thought it was allergies but when she went to the doctor, they sent her right to the ER.  Her EKG showed something was wrong, very wrong.  Over the next 3 months, her health has significantly declined.  She's endured multiple hospitalizations and now the doctors told her she needs a heart transplant as soon as possible.  So right now, her life is on hold, as she is currently in the hospital, awaiting her new heart.   She has to stay in the hospital until she receives the transplant.  Brittany is very stressed, she is worried about finances as well as not being there for her sons first day of Kindergarten and everything else that comes with being a parent.  This has been so hard on her family and especially her son.  He is only 5 years old and doesn't understand why Mommy can't come home from the hospital.  Her Mom has been amazing, as supportive as a Mom could possibly be, but they need help.  Finances are a huge issue as Brittany has been unable to work for the past few months.  A heart transplant can cost upwards of $900,000 in the United States.  TransplantLiving.org broke down the costs for the pre-transplant, procurement, hospital admission, physicians fees, post-transplant fees and immuno-suppressants.  When all of these fees are factored in, a heart transplant can total $997,700.  Although Brittany currently has health insurance, it doesn't cover everything.  Follow-up care can cost a patient over $21,000 per year, but may be higher or lower depending on the cost of medication, cardiologist fees, required tests, the cost of treating complications, and the overall health of the patient.  Please, please help me raise funds for Brittany so she will have one less thing to worry about.  This has been a nightmare for her and her family to say the least.  I know she has great family/friends and lives in Hillsborough NJ, which is an unbelievably supportive community, so I'm asking if we can all come together to help her.  It will be a long journey but I want her to know that we are all here to support her!
