New Field Lighting: Mooreville HS

Mooreville High School’s “Steve Bass Memorial Field” has served our athletic teams since the 1960’s. Most of the lighting at Steve Bass Memorial Field dates back to that time period; it is outdated, too low to the ground, and too dim to meet today’s standards. It is our desire to update the field lighting, but to do so is an expensive endeavor.
Recently, the MHS athletic department and the Lee County School District funded new sidewalks and new fencing around the field. The next phase in our plan of improvement is field lighting. Through a donation, we have secured 70 light fixtures, but we still require four new poles, (70 ft. direct bury) crossbars, and wiring. These new poles will have underground service that will eliminate wires that are currently hanging over the playing field. We estimate the expense of this project to be $25,000.00. Once the new lighting is completed, we will transition to our next phase of improvement, expanded bleacher seating.
It is our desire to provide the Mooreville community an updated stadium with more accessibility, improved lighting, and expanded seating. Our football teams, soccer teams, bands, and cheerleaders work hard to compete to the best of their ability; they deserve facilities they can take pride in. New lighting is the next step toward that end.
We genuinely appreciate the help and generosity of our supporters and we look forward to making Steve Bass Memorial Field a venue everyone can be proud of!
