New Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church

The New Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church currently located at 2332 Jewella Ave. Shreveport, LA. 71109, is situated in one of the city's most impoverished and crime ridden neighborhoods in Shreveport LA.  On April 18, 2021, a group of juveniles in a stolen vehicle crashed through the doors and walls of our main sanctuary in an attempt to evade capture by the police causing upwards of $500k in damage.

2 of the 3 suspects have been apprehended with one having sustained major internal injuries. For years the New Elizabeth M.B.C has been a staple in this community and most recently partnered will the local Baptist Association. and assisted in feeding over 5000 families in our community and surrounding areas during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to fulfilling the biblical mandate Matt. 28:19-20, we have also in years passed housed an school truancy center that allowed students expelled from the public school system to complete high school and graduate on time with their respective class. We currently house Nehemiah Christian Academy Pre-K 4 as well as Nehemiah Child Development Center.

Our building was constructed in 1961 and as with all buildings this age... is experiencing the deterioration of its infrastructure. (pipes, foundation, etc...). Though the insurance will cover a great portion it not all of this repair to our sanctuary, we as a church have decided to start a building renovation campaign and use the funds raised through this campaign to repair and rebuild our church campus: 1. Replacing the outdated water cooled AC/Heating system with central AC/Heat (est.$280,000.00)  2.  Build a family life center to better accommodate inner city youths and their families and promote health and spiritual wellness( est. $550,000-$750,000) as well as... 3. enhance and expand our Pre-K 4 and Daycare Center space in order to accommodate more children ( est.$200-350,000) and... 4. replace both upper and lower asphalt parking lots with concrete (est. cost $80,000.00-$120,000.00).

The end game plan is to offer the children of our community a better and safer Christian alternative to the neighborhood streets with and indoor gymnasium and programs aimed at helping to curb the violence in our community in this is in addition to fostering growth and development in their spiritual lives.  We have decided as a church not to relocate because of the immediate need this community has for our church. We have yet to resume indoor corporate worship and have been conducting our church services outdoors in the parking lot and on Zoom. Our plans are to return to indoor worship by the 4th of July pending the completion of our sanctuary.

Pastor Danny Mitchell Jr. has made plans to attend the arraignment of the suspects involved in this crime and intends to plead for leniency on behalf of the suspects who were apprehended. His belief is that the bad decision these young men made should not be used to define who they are and what they could become. His plans are to disciple these young men and introduce them to Christ and serve as a mentor to them and their families.

Lastly,Thanks you for your prayers and financial support in any amount in regards to this matter. Visit us at newelizabethmbc.org. for office hours, service schedule, view photo gallery, contact info, and more. Also we will keep this campaign up to date on our website as well as the Go-fund me app as progress is made.  Thanks again and God Bless!
