New electric chair for Katie
Donation protected
I've been living with MS for 32 years and have been in an electric chair for 20 of those years.
The chair I'm presently using is a Permobile 300 that is no longer in production. I have been extremely fortunate that this chair has met my needs for the last 10 years. However, in the last few years, the chair has become increasingly more unstable, causing me to lose my physical alignment in the chair. I then lose contact with my headrest and shoulder switch both of which I use to drive and tilt the chair.
I no longer have the confidence and the independence to drive my chair safely and unaccompanied. It has become quite unsafe to operate and since I strive for as full a life as I can manage, I cannot continue to use the current chair.
This in turn has caused my quality of life to deteriorate since I can no longer:
- go for long walks (in my chair) on the bike paths, near my home.
- go shopping, attend movies, concerts, plays, and church.
- get back to my business of mouth painting.
My creations can be viewed on: Oralart
With help from my occupational therapist and wheelchair technician, we were able to do due diligence in researching new chairs and drive controls. As a result, the funds will be used to purchase a new Permobil F3 wheelchair with tilt and a chin control drive with mounting.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this endeavour!
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion,
