New Canaan Police Department K9 Apollo

Hi! My name is Officer Sebastian Obando. I am the new K-9 Handler for the New Canaan Police Department. The New Canaan Police Department is looking to raise money for our K-9 Program. The K-9 program is solely run by generous donations from people within our community as well as outside the community.

The main objective is to raise funds for a new K-9 Vehicle. Currently, the K9 Unit uses a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria and is in dire need of change. With this fund, the K9 Unit would get a 2020 Ford Explorer which would make more space for K9 Apollo, and bring in new technology and equipment needed for the K-9 Unit to perform its duties. Currently, K9 Apollo is a narcotic and tracking Police dog. K9 Apollo not only serves the community of New Canaan but when called upon responds to outside agencies such as Norwalk, Wilton, Darien etc.

Officer Obando and K9 Apollo began working as a unit together in September 2022. Officer Obando and K9 Apollo graduated from the K9 Academy in December 2022 and have been on active patrol duties since. Along with their active patrol duties, K9 Apollo and Officer Obando attend training twice a month. The fund will also help cover associated costs with training, medical care, food, nutrition and of course TOYS for K9 Apollo.

What makes the Town of New Canaan such a great place to live and work is the generosity and comradery of the people within the community. The New Canaan Police Department takes pride in its specialized units such as the K-9 Unit program, however, it is the only program the department has that is solely run by donations. Officer Obando and K9 Apollo look forward to continuing their patrol duties in the town of New Canaan with the support and charitableness of YOU kind people.
