Emergency Neurosurgery on His Wedding Day. Please help!
Timothy Berty and his fiancé, Jessica Dhans, need your prayers and financial support. My name is Barb Johnston and I am the mother of Jessica Dhans and the future Mother-In-Law of Tim Berty. On behalf of Tim and Jessica and their families, allow me to share their story.
Due to a severe sinus infection that eroded his sinus cavity bone allowing the infection to move into his brain cavity and causing trauma to his brain, Tim Berty had to have emergency neurosurgery and ENT surgery on his wedding day, September 22, 2018. His fiancé Jessica spent her wedding day in the Neurology Intensive Care Unit helplessly watching over her fiancé praying that he survive.
Tim survived the surgeries to remove a portion of his skull to relieve some of the pressure from the brain swelling, and to remove the infected bone and tissue throughout his sinus cavities. Tim began fighting hard to awaken and communicate with his fiancé and family. Small milestone improvements were achieved over the next few days.
Soon after he was moved out of the ICU, setbacks occurred including a stomach perforation that required two additional surgeries. Tim and Jessica have a long recovery road ahead including a lengthy hospital stay followed by extensive rehabilitation.
Please pray for continued healing and forward progress for Tim and strength for Jessica to help see him through the challenges ahead, which includes another major surgery to replace the section of his skull that was removed.
Tim will not be able to work for the foreseeable future and his fiancé Jessica will not be able to work while she stays by Tim’s side to help him through the fight of his life. Tim and Jessica are a young couple with mortgage payments and other financial responsibilities. On their behalf, we are asking for your help. Our goal is to help alleviate the financial stresses they face, so that they can focus on recovery.
