Neumos/Barboza Worker Relief Fund

Look let's be real- that dance party hosted on Zoom with your co-workers is tight but you want the real thing. And so do we!

Neumos has been a Seattle institution since 1994, growing and shaping the Seattle music scene by supporting local artists. Not only on stage- but in their everyday working lives as employees. And those 50+ folks who work the door, the bar, the box office, the people who make it sound and look great and take care of the artists all lost their jobs overnight. COVID has not only shut down our venue, but it will have profound, long-term effects on the music industry in Seattle as a whole. Tours and festivals have been cancelled during our biggest money-making season, unemployment doesn't cover our bills, and we don't know what the future holds. But we do know how to have a good time. . . we know how to look out for each other, and we know that music, arts, and creativity connect us and can keep us going through anything.

It's that solidarity, that connection, that keeps us doing what we do. Many of us have choreographed our lives to maintain multiple part time jobs, work freelance contracts and rely on tips to stay in the industry. Unemployment benefits (if we can even apply for them) only pay a small fraction of our already low wages. The cultural backbone of this city rests on the workers who maintain it- and on the community that supports them. You are that community!!! Please support us so that we can all come back to the venue you know and love.

*100% of funds go directly to the unemployed Neumos crew*

Oh and one more thing! Music/the Arts needs YOUR support to keep Seattle cool as heck. You wanna live in a cool city right? Then call up Sen Patty Murray, Sen Maria Cantwell & your U.S. Rep at [phone redacted] and tell them how much better your life is when you can go to shows with your friends. Venues WILL close unless we get immediate government support:

• Financial Payments & Assistance for the Workforce
• Cash Assistance (Not Loans!)
• Rent Forgiveness & Reduction
• Tax Relief
• Insurance Relief & Revisions
• Healthcare for all Arts & Culture Workers
