We recently said farewell to a long-term client pictured here. Betsy was thoughtful, kind, and unforgettable. She lived an extraordinary life at home for over 97 years with the help of her five loving children, their partners, extended family and friends, and a team of caregivers who loved her so much.

Seven years ago, I started a non-profit home care organization after caring for my own Mom.

I have been in and out of assisted living and long-term care facilities, and while they are needed, sometimes I found them lacking in so many aspects of daily living and care. I researched care culture and options around the world. I even have looked at care robots and the role they may someday play in solving the care conundrum; what I found is this, the small care home model works best and provides your loved ones with a safe and caring home environment, comfortable living and outdoor spaces, along with excellent nutrition, hugs, and moments of joy each and every day for as long as possible. Also, this model provides a place for a caregiver, which helps in reducing costs. On average, in 2022, Assisted living begins at around $6000 a month and can go as high as $12000 a month when increased care and services are added. Long-term care is over $16000 a month now. I believe we can provide excellent care for less, help preserve valuable lifetime assets and give Mom and Dad or any loved one a sense of community (depending on their physical and emotional restrictions). It is time to change how we care for one another as we age, and I believe having smaller care homes and operating on a non-profit basis is the way to do this. Your donation is 100% tax-deductible!
