Let’s help Bear

Bear has been a pack member of Peak Dog and formerly Dusty Dogs for about 8 months now.
He has easily become one of the most loving and hilarious dogs we have. He is such a firecracker, always in the lead and he loves getting all of the other dogs to chase him!

I decided to create this Go Fund Me for Bear and his owners as we truly want the best for them and for Bear to have a long and happy Life ahead of him.

From the owner Bree:

"Bear has an underlying “skin disease” he has had skin issues since we have had him as a puppy but they have never been this bad- always had reoccurring infections but thought nothing of it until now. His underlying condition makes him extremely itchy, uncomfortable, and he creates sores from scratching. His sores got infected and now he has a very hard to treat, resistant to all antibiotics EXCEPT ONE, as well as a bacterial, fungal infection to his body and ears. The Staph is a MRSP/MRSI like infection and he has many wounds to his body from it being so itchy. So he's been on a hypoallergenic food diet for months (yes we are aware of RAW diet and will be trying it in the future but right now our number one first thing we have todo is try to treat this very nasty staph infection he has. Going forward we are doing many different daily pills BID, daily antibiotic/itch control Spray to all areas (his body is covered) and Tuesday bear will begin subcutaneous antibiotic injections at home which the injection can cause bear to go into kidney failure so that's why we are also doing the spray to minimize the amount of injections daily (the injection means weekly Q5day vet visits, blood work to monitor his kidney function, urine samples every 5 days) If the antibiotic does not work to treat bears infection we have no further options as staph is very nasty in humans for one but especially animals, and is really affecting bears quality of life. If his infection clears we are hoping to get him to the vet dermatologist that is best on the lower mainland to see if bears underlying skin disease can be managed better or even in hopes is treatable / possibly he was misdiagnosed (that is only a hope that there is a simpler answer so bear can be comfortable with something that can be managed and or treatable) we have been on many different antibiotics, skin medications, ointment creams to help his underlying skin disease (food allergy has also been ruled out- yes we know hypoallergenic food still has things dogs can be allergic to) unfortunately it’s been pretty unbearable for him, he is constantly itchy, creating sores, getting reoccurring ear and skin infections (that has been stated will be a life long issue for bear, it’s been told he will have reoccuring fungal, bacterial, and staph infections as he is very susceptible) he is constanlty crying and whimpers all the time from being uncomfortable and constantly itching and scratching. It's absolutely heart breaking and we are praying that we can #1 /firstly treat his staph infection and doesn't go into kidney failure or that the infection doesn't become resistant to the one antibiotic it’s susceptible to as the cultures and swabs have shown it’s resistant to everything else except this one that will have to be injected. We really just need positive thoughts and prayers that this one antibiotic will work for him as other wise the prognosis is poor. We love our baby more than anything and want to try everything we can to help bear. Bear also is a very very high anxiety dog, we have had to put him on anti-anxiety medications for the vet visits, daily pills(life long for skin control) ear drops(life long to try and prevent fungal/ bacterial infections) injections. Bear is the sweetest boy but when it comes to these vet visits he doesn’t even want to go inside the doors of the vet- I have to carry him. When he wears a cone he cry’s all day and panics and ends up walking into the walls, doors, everything and is so scared he doesn’t want to move, the ear drops are uncomfortable and bear has become reactive to them, so we have had to bring in a behaviourist to help us help him make it a bit of a less scary experience for him. We have hopefully a long road ahead of us with bear in our life’s, but again we really need prayers this antibiotic works and won’t cause kidney failure or that it becomes resistant."

We will be collecting bottles if you have any to spare please let us know :)
