Bagel’s Medical Bills
Bagel is 4 years old and too smart for his own good but recently, while he was resting on the couch, he let out a yelp. When I went to check him I discovered that he had lost the ability to use his back legs. I took him to our vet and they prescribed meds and took x-ray but could not determine what the problem was.
A week later, with no improvement, I took him to a neurological vet specialist who performed an MRI, added more meds. He has improved to where he can walk for short periods but often collapses on his hind legs. Hopefully with the new meds that have been prescribed in time he will improve and be back to a semi normal life. The cost so far has exceeded $6,000.00 and being on a fixed income it has maxed out my credit cards and ability to meet the monthly costs. One of his medications costs $140.00 per month and that is only because I am able to buy it at Costco.
In the beginning I was given the option to put him down but I refused. He is too much of a loving dog and too young to consider anything that cruel.
