Healing for John

This campaign is for a close friend of mine. Due to the complexity of the situation and possibility of professional repercussions, I'll just call him "John." John Q. Warrior is a husband, a father and a special operator. He is a man who has sacrificed much in service to his country over the last decade.
A serving soldier, dedicated husband, father of two, and a great friend, John has quietly suffered for years with service related injuries. Specifically, John has been diagnosed with herniated nucleus pulposus (HNP) at L5/S1, degenerative disc disease elsewhere and torn labrums in both hip sockets...among other things. Despite his best efforts, these are conditions that continue to worsen. These injuries are daily sources of pain and limitation for John. Despite this, he continues to serve in various conflict zones around the world; utilizing a skill set that is both rare and valued in our military. However, his continued service often requires him to push through significant pain and cope with ever increasing personal limitations for the sake of accomplishing the mission. Serving in such a critical and unforgiving capacity has not only cost him physically but has also robbed him of opportunities to join in with his active young family.
John has proactively and diligently pursed every means of physical therapy and treatment offered by military health care providers. Short of risky and invasive surgical procedures with uncertain results, he has tried it all and just barely stayed ahead of his degenerative conditions...by an ever-decreasing margin. Having exhausted all of the non-invasive options available through military providers and any other treatments covered by military insurance, John started researching other options. He searched extensively for something that has worked for others in similar situations. He discovered is that there are a number of promising treatment options available today that have dramatically improved degenerative conditions like herniated disks and ligament damage. Of these, non have demonstrated greater potential for success than stem cell therapy. There are various types of these treatments but they all share at least two things in common. One, they offer near miraculous benefits with virtually no risk and two, none of them are covered by military insurance. Facing this reality head on, as is John's way, means that he will once again be required to sacrifice to do what must be done; to stay in the fight and continue to serve his family, his teammates and his country.
This time, however, we have the privilege and opportunity to come alongside John and his family to help them bear the burden! John has already researched and identified a highly recommended and reputable procedure and provider. Top specialist believe he is an ideal candidate for this treatment and that he should experience significant improvement from it. He has already begun making arrangements to get this treatment, stepping out in faith that this is the best decision for his family, his career and his quality of life. John is prepared to sacrifice in order to fund this treatment on his own but we are very excited to give him a hand with this one!
Because John's skill set is in high demand, he has an exceptionally busy schedule. Ideally we would like to raise these funds before his procedure in two months; allowing him to have the procedure during a quick gap in his deployments.
