On March 10th, 2016, while at Depoe Bay, Oregon, Nathan Shank passed out in a swimming pool.  Ashley went in after him and was able to give him CPR before the paramedics arrived.  He was then taken by ambulance to a local hospital and then flown by LifeFlight to Portland.

Nathan is currently on a ventilator and not breathing on his own.  He is able to give a thumbs up and is able to respond to questions, which is a great sign for his recovery and gives us hope that there will be little to no brain damage.  At this point, he is in critical but stable condition.  It is expected that he will get worse before he gets better because of the tremendous damage done to his lungs.  Nathan has a long road of recovery ahead of him and needs our continual prayers and support.

As a minister, the Shanks have limited funds.  We want to give you the opportunity to help them out financially.  All funds raised will be used for out-of-pocket medical expenses, temporary housing (so that Ashley and their young son Ethan can be closer to the Portland hospital), food and other unexpected costs arising from this accident.
