NATE'S STORY
Who is Nate:
Nate is an outstanding Navy Officer. He received a Bronze Star for his active duty service and took a roll teaching young officers while in the Navy Reserves. He is loved by many for his sense of humor and positivity even through difficult times.
In late 2015, Nate was offered a job to help with Nuclear Energy regulation in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Although this was a wonderful opportunity for a young engineer, it came with the complications of living in a foreign country.
Nate's Situation:
3 days ago Nate was admitted to a hospital in Abu Dhabi with a fever. In a bizarre twist of fate, his fever inexplicitly worsened into full blown liver failure, the cause of which is both unexplainable and unknown by the doctors treating him. Despite receiving this terrible news, Nate remained positive and would continue to joke with the hospital staff.
Over the course of two days, Nate's condition has significantly worsened and he is now medically unconscious with a machine breathing for him. The only hope for his survival is a new liver. The country he lives in not equipped to perform a liver transplant.
For Nate to get the treatment he needs to live, he must be flown out of UAE to Europe to receive a new liver. Currently, he is not medically stable enough to fly back to the US and be with his family. Through the chaos of this situation his wife, Erin, has been fighting to get Nate the emergency medical flight he needs to survive. She's leaving all their belongings behind and placed their beloved dog, Effy, in a boarding home to ensure Nate gets to a hospital that can perform the life-saving transplant.
How to Help Nate:
Although Nate has health insurance through the Navy Reserves, there are many costs of this hardship that are not covered. Your donations will help Nate and his wife, Erin, pay for the housing, costly hospital stay, and Nate's rehabilitation while he is recovering back to his former joyous self.
Nate and Erin were planning to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary this month. Instead of celebrating, we are hoping to give Nate the opportunity to see his 6th wedding anniversary and many more.
