Nate Hillenburg's Eagle Scout Proj.

Donation protected
My name is Nate Hillenburg and I am sixteen years old, a Life Scout with Troop 441, and a sophomore at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.

I am very excited to start my Eagle Scout Service Project benefiting a Retreat House located on 13 serene, wooded acres within easy walking distance of the Fall Creek green-way located near my home and is the property next to my high school in Indianapolis, Indiana.

When I started researching ideas for my Eagle Scout Service Project, I knew I wanted to do something to provide people a place where they can feel safe and close to God. Feeling safe and close to God is very important, especially in today's world!

I plan to construct a HOLY FAMILY SHRINE and SITTING AREA on the grounds of the retreat property. This sanctuary will provide a tranquil place to sit and reflect while walking the trails and viewing the Stations of the Cross.

Please help me make this project a reality, I believe all things are possible with God!

We would appreciate anything you can do to assist with my Eagle Scout Service Project, including funding, materials, or help with the construction.

We especially need help from someone with a bobcat or small tractor to excavate the area and move the dirt, gravel and sand.

We have purchased the Holy Family Statue with donations and I have included a picture of the sculpture. The dimensions are: 27"Wx18"Dx58½"H. 96 lbs.

We hope to raise enough donations to purchase an existing limestone pedestal from the Stone Center of Indiana, shown in the attached picture, which the Holy Family Sculpture can be secured.

Limestone has a special significance because it is harvested in our state of Indiana.  The pedestal dimensions are 36 x 36 x 36 and the unique piece was crafted by a master stone mason at the Stone Center from a large piece of limestone similar to the one located to the right.

We truly appreciate all the Stone Center has done to help with my Eagle Scout Service Project and they are allowing us to purchase the pedestal for a spectacular price. Without their help we could not consider something so special and beautiful that will last a lifetime.

We will need help removing trees, installing a retaining wall in the back of the area, digging-out and leveling the area with power-equipment (bobcat excavator) for the paver area base and a concrete footing (cement mixer and product) to support the limestone pedestal.

The area will need to be prepared for the pavers with a gravel then sand base.  A plate compactor will be used to compact the base and then the pavers will be placed around the structure.

We need the assistance from someone talented at laying pavers in a unique design like herringbone.

The Stone Center of Indiana has graciously donated retaining wall blocks and 200 square feet of pavers. We cannot thank them enough for their support and generosity!

We estimate an additional 200 square feet or more of pavers and edging to secure the pavers will need to be purchased for this project.

We would like to purchase and install several benches and shade-tolerant perennial plants to surround the HOLY FAMILY SHRINE.

All donations should be tax deductible via IRS 501 (c)3; please consult your tax advisor to verify .

Any donations which exceed what is needed for this Holy Family Shrine Project will be donated to the Retreat House.

Thank you for your consideration in helping me with my Eagle Scout Service Project.
