Nasir's funeral and children's education expenses

We are friends of Nasir (Nasiruddin Shaik) and Sajeda, with the goal of raising funds to support his funeral and his family's financial needs. Please help Nasir’s family during this difficult time by generously contributing to this fundraiser. Every bit helps.

 What was supposed to be a fun evening, spending time in the water on a hot summer day with friends and family, turned out to be a fateful and tragic evening for Nasir and his family.

Nasir was standing in waist-deep water and playing with his family and friends in the Willamette River near the Wheatland Ferry when he was unexpectedly swept away by a strong current at 6.55 pm on Saturday, June 26th, 2021. At this point, Nasir is still considered missing despite the coordinated efforts of Search and Rescue personnel and volunteers. They are unable to locate Nasir or his remains so far.

Nasir was a 37 year old resident of Salem, Oregon; a very loving and doting husband to his 31-year-old wife Sajeda; a caring father to his 2 boys who are 10 and 6 years old. He had been married to his wife for 12 years and was working as an IT consultant for Oregon State Health Department through Deloitte Inc. Even during this pandemic he exhibited positivity, was full of life and energy, who never missed a chance to help his friends and have a good time. He loved to cook and explore new things. He had a passion for the outdoors, traveling, and cars. Besides his wife and children, Nasir’s mother and his 4 siblings live in India.

While Nasir’s wife Sajeda still remains hopeful, she is very scared and concerned for her children’s future. She is also considering relocating back to India with her children due to her visa situation. In addition to your positive thoughts and prayers for his family, we request you to help Nasir’s family in their difficult time by generously contributing to this fundraiser. In the event that his remains are found, his wife does not have the financial means to transport his mortal remains back to India, have a funeral service, or provide a secure future for their young kids. We would like to raise $150,000 to support their family during this time of need.

Nasir’s wife and children could use your monetary support for searching and transporting his remains to India. She also has some chronic health conditions which need recurring medical attention. Most importantly it was Nasir’s dream to provide a reasonable education for their children. This could be made possible by your generous donation.

Anyone along the banks of Willamette River, please keep your eye out and if you see anything, please call 911 to report. Kindly practice water safety, wear life vests, and follow the warnings while getting into any river.
